I went for a 750 mile ride over Labor Day through the mountains of Pennsylvania.

But when I stopped by a tiny drainage ditch in PA to clean off my face shield, I was shocked to see a sign that said....  Genesee River. How could that be?

I suppose a river has to start somewhere. Believe it or not, this is the Genesee River.

That little trickle eventually becomes the Genesee.

Then it takes a U-turn and runs down the middle of this pasture. Ever wonder why it's so dirty?

Much to my amazement, I passed another little tiny ditch which turned out to be the headstream for the mighty Allegheny.

As it turns out, I had come upon some kind of mini eastern continental divide.

As I continued my journey, I came upon historic Coudersport, PA along Route 6.

An historic building in Coudersport.

An historical plaque commemorating Potter County history.

After Coudersport, I took Route 44, a sweet mountain road, to Cherry Springs State Park, one of the clearest viewing spots for astronomers in the northeastern United States. The campground was filled with astronomy clubs from all over. I saw license plates from New Jersey , Ohio, New York and even Michigan.

A nice mountain lookout spot along Route 44.

More Route 44.

Carter Camp Lodge at the intersection of Routes 44 and 144.

I finally made my way to Hyner View, an amazing lookout spot on top of Hyner Mountain. The river is the West Branch of the Susquehanna. The following day, I followed Rt. 120, (aka the Bucktail Trail) which follows the river.

The view from Hyner Mountain looking in the opposite direction. It's a favorite spot for Hang gliders.

I headed back to the hotel in Mansfield by way of Route 414, which follows the Pine Creek Gorge, that eventually becomes the so-called Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. This was one of the few straight sections of pavement I rode all weekend.

What's a ride through Pennsylvania without a good tractor pull? I stopped to watch this one for a few minutes in Morris, PA. There were also live bands and a carnival.

Early color!! I had to stop and get a shot of some leaves that are turning early.

The next day, I passed by another carnival along the banks of the Susquehanna River in Lock Haven, complete with mini hydroplane races.

I proceeded to follow Route 120 out of Lock Haven which is a national scenic drive as it follows the Susquehanna River for miles. Around every corner is another post-card worthy view.

This is one of the best motorcycling roads I've ever had the pleasure of traversing.

This is the town of Emporium along Route 120.

On my way out of PA, I wanted to stop and listen to the John Doe band. But no one inside knew who he was.
