Sapsucker Woods in Ithaca New York is a must see destination if you're cruising around the southern tier looking for fall foliage during October. Just one of the many reasons we love the Ithaca area.
We spend an occasional weekend in Ithaca and stopped there to enjoy it's splendor. But what is really cool is that it's like a living laboratory for Cornell University's School of Ornithology (a branch of zoology that concerns the study of birds).
The 230-acre sanctuary encompasses forests, ponds, ferny swamps, and abundant wildlife. More than four miles of trails and boardwalks are waiting for you to explore. They have a visitor center where you can borrow a pair of binoculars, download a map or take a guided tour.
