Dual sport riding in and around the PA
Grand Canyon Photos and descriptions by Jim Montanus, Rochester, NY Collection of some of my photos of adventure riding in and around the PA Grand Canyon from 2004 to present. View my latest PA Grand Canyon photos. This scene is between Wellsboro and Leonard Harrison State Park.
Unfortunately, they cut down these trees so this scene no longer exists. Beulah Land is a place referenced in the bible.
And Beulah Land Road, pictured here, The legendary PA Route 6. A little side road running along the Pine Creek
Gorge near Slate Run. Overlooking Kettle Creek Owassee Road, a nice little diversion near Colton
Point State Park. Wellsboro Oil Well between Bradford and Allegeny Reservoir. The low water in Allegheny Reservoir revealed an
old road submerged back in the 60's when the Kinzua Dam was first built. Kettle Creek State Park Beulah Land Road between Cedar Run and Waterville
near Okome. Scene along Route 6 between Mansfield and
Wellsboro Galeton, PA at dusk Wellsboro Wellsboro still uses real gas lamps A little dirt road I found along the Susquehanna Pine Creek Gorge near Cedar Run The famed Kinzua Bridge, once the largest
bridge of it's type in the world, reduced to rubble after an F1 Tornado
blew it down a few years ago. Clay Mine road where it meets Stoney Fork
Road
Ultra Clear viewing conditions make
stargazing a nice pasttime in the PA Grand Canyon. This 15 minute time
exposure shows one of the spiral arms of our own Milky Way Galaxy and
due to the star trails, illustrates the earths rotation Wellsboro Big Run Road running out of Blackwell Wellsboro Barn near Stoney Fork Waterville Hotel before they ruined it by
remodeling it extensively. It had so much character. Colton Point State Park Rt. 414 between Blackwell and Cedar Run
Dave Kessler and family are pictured here.
He is my dual sport guru, having turned me on to the PA Grand Canyon,
GPS and a lot more. My poor Accord is a lot rustier now, but
going on 400K miles and still running like a champ Little bar near Sinnemahoning North Bend The Susquehanna River Valley is like a whole
other PA Grand Canyon, only with no roads running through it. Exploring little side roads near Stoney Fork Friday night lights - I came across this football
stadium nestled among the mountains on a cool, crisp fall night. It was quite a
sight. Blossburg, PA - home of the North Penn Panthers. Cedar Run Wanna make your woman happy and have an excuse to
ride too? Here's your answer. The Cedar Run Inn. She'll love you for it. Plus,
there are unbelievably sweet dirt roads running in every direction. Here's one picture that wasn't taken in PA. This was
the view from the top of Mt. Washington in the White Mountains of New
Hampshire. |
This is down in the PA Grand Canyon itself. I
brought my mountain bike and rode the rail trail. Here's something you can do to
make the whole family happy. USA Today called it one of the top ten places in
the country to take a family bike ride.
