This part of PA boasts some of the best night sky viewing in the northeastern United States. Here is a 5 minute time exposure of one of the spiral arms of our own Galaxy - the Milky Way. |

The camera, which was held perfectly steady on a tripod, picked up the movement of the stars caused by the rotation of the earth on it's axis. |

This is a 200 mm telephoto shot of Polaris, which is the also called the north star because of it's close proximity to the north celestial pole. It's the only star in the sky that does not appear to move across the sky during the night. |

Notice how all the other stars are moving around the North Star. Polaris is actually a trinary star system (a grouping of three stars) 431 light years from earth whose brightest star is a Cepheid variable, the closest such type of star to earth. |

The Pine Creek Rail Trail follows the entire length of the Pine Creek Gorge making it an extremely popular spot for recreational bicyclists, especially families. |

One of my previous pictures of the Cedar Run General Store made it onto the cover of a Frontier Brochure. Cedar Run became a part of our territory when the company recently purchased Commonwealth Telephone. |

Our little room up on the third floor. Much of the furniture is original dating back to 1890. Not alot of modern amenities, but that just adds to it's charm. |

Hyner View |
We had to take the obligatory trip up to Hyner Mountain which has a spectacular view of another PA Grand Canyon of sorts, the Susqehanna River Valley. |
