The Seven Wonders of Orleans County

First Wonder: Shoe Tree

The Great Shoe Tree of Lakeside Road

This particular shoe has been assimilated into the actual DNA structure of the tree, making it a true symbiotic organism.

Shoe 'Trees'

The shoes apparently filter impurities from the air, converting them into food which the tree then uses to survive.

In return, the tree provides a home for the shoes, up high and safe from predators.

Unlike the leaves on most deciduous trees, the shoes are in bloom all year long.

Note the fully ripened shoe which is nearly ready for harvesting.

Second Wonder: The Culvert

The sign pretty much speaks for itself.

It really is the only road in it's entire length which passes under the Erie Canal, making it the pride of Orleans County.

It does leak, so be careful when passing beneath.

This is the point on the canal under which the Culvert travels

A Fox: No wonder at all

This isn't one of the seven wonders, I just threw this in because I found this fox in a farm field that day.
